Tim joined the PSG team as a Senior Project Manager in 2018, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in educational publishing, product development, illustration and design. Calm, curious and dependable, Tim has dedicated his career to collaborating with publishers to create successful products that engage learners of all ages, and he is always hoping to expand how students view their own learning and the larger world around them.

Having grown up in Boston, Tim was inspired early on to create meaningful educational content like the kind he grew up watching on WGBH, the local PBS station. Though he has always wanted to work in illustration, Tim has found that he operates best in small teams like PSG, where working together to see large projects unfold from beginning to end is a shared passion and priority. As PSG’s newest Senior Project Manager, Tim is excited to become acquainted with clients’ unique needs and challenges, and to work alongside the PSG team to deliver first-rate solutions.

Tim earned his BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design, and even lived in Italy for a year while attending the university’s European Honors Program in Rome. While abroad, Tim spent a few months learning to make books by hand in a small shop in the hill town of Assisi, an experience that he credits as having had a major impact on his desire to continue working in publishing. He worked as a teacher with Artists for Humanity and as a studio manager, illustrator and designer for companies like Studio Goodwin-Sturges and Netlibrary after receiving his degree, and became the Art Director of Shadowbox, Inc. in 2003. In this position, he collaborated closely with editorial teams at major educational publishers, and later co-founded the webtexts provider Soomo Learning before taking on the role of Senior Project Manager at Custom Learning Designs in Belmont, MA.

All the while, Tim continued to manage his thriving freelance illustration company, and collaborated with clients such as Houghton Mifflin Harcourt; Pearson Education; Hyperion/Disney Publishing; Little, Brown and Company; and more. One of his favorite projects over the years was producing and illustrating the I See I Learn series, a 16-book series that allowed Tim to combine his skills and communicate with a diverse group of people in order to release an effective product designed to help young children learn necessary social, health and cognitive skills in preparation for school.

Whether hard at work at PSG or relaxing at home with his wife, daughter and recently rescued beagles, Tim is always eager to learn something new. Equipped with a diverse background and can-do attitude, Tim is an invaluable addition to the PSG team, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome him aboard!
