Future author and editor Karla Accorto comes to PSG as a Summer 2017 Intern. A rising senior at Providence College, Karla is an ambitious double major in creative writing and sociology. She intends to plunge headfirst into the publishing world with her PSG internship, laying the groundwork for what she hopes will be a lifelong career in publishing.

Karla is excited to intern with a team as enthusiastic about books as she is. Looking forward, she hopes to have an editing career in trade publishing, putting her detail-oriented mindset to good use. After making her mark in the publishing world, she intends to become a fiction writer, penning mystery and suspense novels like Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl, one of her favorite books. But her passion for the mystery genre will never hamper her love of British literature, especially Shakespeare—Karla will be the first to admit that she was close to tears when she visited the Globe Theatre in London this past spring.

A self-proclaimed coffee expert, Karla drinks several cups a day and “can smell a fresh brew from several rooms away.” A caffeine buzz only adds to the passion and ambition that she exudes in everything she does, from her part-time job at a homemade ice cream shop, where a small crisis is always just around the corner, to her aspirations of becoming a fiction writer. In between sips of black iced coffee, Karla sets high goals for herself, and she has already had a taste of success—a novel she published on a writing website as a senior in high school garnered over a million reads within a year.

Karla dives headfirst into everything she tackles, and her internship at PSG will be no exception. She can’t wait to learn the editorial processes that transform a manuscript from an idea to a finished product. With her enthusiasm and dedication, Karla Accorto will be an excellent addition to the PSG team.
