Samantha Perry joins the PSG team as a Spring 2017 intern. She recently graduated Ithaca College with a bachelor of arts in writing.

Sam has had extensive experience in all forms of writing. She deliciously wrote for Sautéed, a cooking show at Ithaca College, where she wrote scripts connecting a recipe to a theme every week. She also was a film critic for Buzzsaw magazine, when she reviewed films that were being shown at Cornell University’s cinema. Sam then spent time in London writing articles for the Raindance Film Festival, promoting independent films. All of these experiences have put her well on her way to her dream job of writing scripts for film or television. As a scriptwriter, Sam can join the film industry she loves and apply her impressive writing skills from behind the scenes, while being a part of something bigger.

One challenging writing experience Sam has had was her creation of a novella. In a class focused on writing short novels, she went through the process of studying previous examples, writing drafts in workshops and then editing extensively. An experience this thorough has her well prepared for the hard work at PSG.

Sam’s love of writing supports her love of reading. One of her most interesting jobs was when she worked at a pediatric center with kids and young adults that had physical and mental handicaps. She spent time there reading her favorite books with residents. Some of her favorites are Drown and This Is How You Lose Her, as she is a big fan of Junot Díaz.

Here at PSG, Sam is looking forward to learning more ways to be involved in making educational endeavors entertaining. This semester, she aims to increase her skill set to prepare her for a career where she can apply and expand her varied writing talents. The office is happy to have Sam (and her talents!) as part of the PSG team.
