Kate Carroll began working at PSG as an intern in the summer of 2012. She was hired as an editorial assistant upon the completion of her internship and was eventually promoted to copyeditor. While working as an editorial assistant, Kate completed her senior year at Emerson College; she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Writing, Literature & Publishing and a minor in Business Studies.

Through her internship with PSG, Kate was able to combine her acute sense of language with her enthusiasm for education. She has since gained experience in copyediting, proofing and researching by working on many of PSG’s educational projects. In addition to her role as copyeditor, Kate also works with PSG’s sales team on various marketing campaigns and sales initiatives, adding further types of experience to her skill set. An enthusiastic and committed worker, Kate is a welcome addition to PSG.

At Emerson, Kate worked as a copyeditor for Undergraduate Students for Publishing, an organization that publishes several student-created books each academic year. She also studied abroad through Emerson’s international program and lived in a fourteenth century castle, Kasteel Well, in the Netherlands. There she worked on and was published in The Black Swan, Kasteel Well’s literary magazine. While in Europe, she was able to travel to 12 different cities in 9 different countries, her favorites being London, Prague and Edinburgh, the Mecca for Harry Potter enthusiasts. Her love of literature can be summarized in a quote by J. K. Rowling: “Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.”

Before starting full time at PSG, Kate also worked at the Barnes & Noble at Emerson, where she flipped through and admired all the books she likes. Some of her favorites include Jess Walter’s Beautiful Ruins, George R. R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series and any of Jane Austen’s novels.
